Your theory about the "flocking" could be correct, but it could also be other stuff in the camera chamber? But that has been a problem with that camera from day one. The new sensor's cover plates have some pretty "exotic" coatings to keep dust from sticking, and also vibrate the sensor to shake stuff off. If your fix on gluing the flocking works, I might just pull mine out for use again!

What about them rumors that Nikon might have a low cost FX 24MP camera as a "true" replacement for the D700? That could be REAL interesting. My D800e still has not come in. ;-( I can wait! If it hasn't come in by the time the "low cost FX" one is announced, I might just wait for that instead, for half the price.
