I used Av most of the time because it is probably the control that changes the look and feel of the image the most for me - I want to emphasise a particular feature or the whole scene should be in focus, I also start at base ISO and then increase that (or use a tripod) if the shutter speed is getting too slow.

But I haven't learnt the metering on Canon as well yet so I find myself in M mode a lot more than I used to be.

I am by no means trying to say that any way is better, I am just curious to the thought process.
