and wait for the high pixel count camera that will come out real soon now

Wouldnt bet on that "real soon now";

even if there was an announcement in photokina i doubt there would be something out in the market before Q1-Q2 2013, plus it would be a really bad idea to launch a 30-40mpx 5d with the same DR;
if it was cheaper than 3500 then it would alienate the 5d3 users,
if it was > 3500 it would alienate everyone,

My speculation is that the high pixel count will be price-pointed between the 5D-III and the 1DX. The body will be "pro level" (maybe not as pro as the 1DX but better than the 5D-III)

Canon probably can easily match the resolution of the D800 - but I wonder if they can match the DR. I speculate that it is possible they will out-source the sensor to another fab company if they their own fab lines cannot cope.

Maybe the post-Photokina availability will be quick - they have been stung by the early announcement of the 1DX and late availability.

From what I understand from a Canon tester, there are a couple of different high pixel count cameras models undergoing evaluation since the beginning of the year.
