Firmware update . . . any hope?

It is looking more likely that there will be a V2 before a firmware update for V1. It almost seems like Nikon wants the Nikon 1 series to stay in the p&s upgrade niche so many have placed it in.

Very surprising and not too promising for the future growth of the Nikon 1 system.
Why take 4 years to develop it and then just ignore it?
Anyone see any hope?
