this is a good point as well

im new to my a57 and im actually not sure what type of AF may be best? I just have it on default center i think. any reason other ones could be better?

It might be because we hear the term back/front focus.
The question is, are the people focusing like they do on manual.
Do we focus with the central/single spot, are we sure not to move making a shot.
Is the speed high enough?

Are the objects not moving and last but not .... super zooms are difficult keeping motionless if not on a stable base.

And even if you can micro adjust, if your aperture is wide open, it's difficult to make a sharp picture (object).
It's important to know where your lenses are good (@ what length and aperture)
