I'd get both just because the 50mm will let in about 2x more light. And the optics are actually pretty good.

While the 50mm’s (II) AF system is loud and crude I still get over 60% keepers and I’d attribute about 20% to my own error. So IMO 20% miss rate from the lens alone is not bad considering its price… Now if my 800 dollar 10-22 posted those numbers I’d be a little more upset.

This really depends on how much you shoot in low light.
