By the way, there are hundreds of information pages on that photo wiki and I keep updating it each week to keep me occupied and my mind thinking

I have done more tests with the EVF in low light and it does get dark below a certain light level irrespective of how your photo will turn out.

I tried it in one of Melbourne's darkest alleys where the EVF did go dark, but even with AF illuminator, the AF was fast and accurate, and I could get a sharp hand held half a second shot:
