My first thought looking at this was overexposure - the brightest areas are washed out with no detail. However, the original you posted down the thread is OK so it's not overexposure but overprocessing.

Did you increase contrast settings? It might sound silly, but the contrast slider is almost the worst way to increase contrast because it pushes all the highlights up and all the shadows down. You get a better result using a tone curve, which leaves the very bright and very dark areas alone but bosts contrast in the midtones.

Getting past that I quite like the effect you've gone for. Skies generally seem to be good candidates for strong PP effects and yours is a good example.
