I have been using a 36mm Kenko tube coupled with an Ai 135mm 2.8 which is ok but with the 300, I just too much vignetting

How much vignetting is that actually? I've heard of Kenkos vignetting on FX but never seen a sample.

You could also consider the PN-11 52.5mm tube.
