Just an old rusty screw
May 3, 2012

So I was playing around with the 60/2.8 the other day looking for bugs in the back yard when I found an old rusty screw in the flower bed. I brushed off the dirt and held the camera up towards the sky in one hand and held the screw in the other hand. The technique was by no means professional, but I liked the results none the less.

Shot settings:
F8, 1/125", ISO 100. Flash on and manual focus

In manual mode, I metered for the sky and then underexposed for 1 stop. I had my 580ex2 in the hot shoe pointing straight ahead with the white bounce card out to give some directional light to the subject.

The thing I liked most about this shot was the background. The sky provided a nice dramatic background. Tell me what you think.
