30mm or 50mm for portraits / social shots?
May 2, 2012

New on here, and just bought the NEX5N. I previously used a Canon 300D SLR with a 50mm f1.8 for almost all of my photography, but wanted better low light performance.

For everyday portrait shots and general social shooting, would I be better off with the Sigma 30mm f2.8 or should I get the Sony 50mm f1.8? I know it sounds like a bit of a dumb question, but thinking that maybe the Sigma will be a better all-round lens, while still giving a similar feeling and nice blurring in the background?
