Filters for upcoming annular eclipse
For those who don't know, there is a annular eclipse happening in the western US on May 20th. I live right off of the center line and would love to get some shots but don't know the right filter to get. Shooting a Nikon D90, probably with a 70-300.
Shoot the moon with your 300mm. That's how "big" the sun will be if you shoot the eclipse. And you will have the expense of a proper solar filter and the hazard of permanent eye damage if you screw up - be very careful!.
My wife and I will be spending that weekend at Shasta, near the center-line. I'll enjoy the eclipse with proper solar "glasses" and look for other interesting phenomena to shoot - other than pointing my camera at the sun.
