I actually have an em5 and the FL-600R.... I have not figured out how to get the light to provide assist (it just arrived yesterday), but I can not say I like af assist lights, people notice them more than the red cross hatch pattern the Nikon flashes put out... The FL-30R and FL-50R do not let you use the built in AF assist in the flash when the camera has a built in assist light? Are you sure?

Ok, I just tried it out. You have to turn on the AF assist light on the camera, then you can switch between using the built in one on the camera, or the light on the flash, depending on what mode you select ON THE FLASH for the LED light. Different than the norm, but it works....

There is no such thing as taking 'too many pictures', you can always delete
the extra ones, but you can never go back in time, and take more pictures...
