I am not against voting in challenges with an own entry and I really can imagine and accept all the kinds of reasons.

But what I do not understand: if all these people with an own entry vote fair, why is there such a low rating even for a very good winning image?

People have different tastes, some people vote on the thumbnail, some vote by the medium image some vote on the slideshow and some vote using the full sized image . . . . so some people never see the "good" image that is badly OOF or has other technical issues . . some never see that the image that has been entered is actually very small and can't be technically judged at all . . . some are just sndbaggers and want to vote the best images down.

Why I am the only one who gave 5 stars to the winner?

I have never given a 5.0 vote yet . . . . and I wouldn't for the entry you have shown. The voting system is an absolute one . . not a relative one.

If we had a relative system then maybe I would pick that as my No. 1 pick also and our votes would then count the same.

This is an example for a just finished challenge (Fences):

The result:

My votes:

You need to take a screen grab of your votes . . . and show that, anyone that clicks you link gets their votes shown, not yours.

In my opinion there is a tendency to vote not appropriate if one has an own entry. It shifts the complete result in a negative direction. And voting low counts on the wrong side and fails to compensate sandbagging.
