Canon Point&Shoots: video capabilities
May 1, 2012

Hello everyone,

My wife wants a small camera for her purse to take pictures and videos of the kids. The photo quality will really be good enough on all of the models and I want to stick to Canon since we're already set up with the software and file naming conventions from other cameras in the house (5DII, SX130, SD500).

The issue is the video capability which is supposed to replace our Elura 70 (zoom button broke and Canon can't fix it). Questions here are the file format (ideally I want something that is easy to edit, AVI would be great), and length of the clips. I don't care for HD or any of that.

So in other words: which of the Canon P&S cameras is best for basic videos and can record longer clips onto a large SD card?

Thanks
