Well actually in the final image space the 5DmkII has the finer pitch. The crop factor is 2.0 between these cameras. 2x3.7=7.2 vs 6.4. Very close.

Pattern noise is mostly a function of the read out electronics and has little if anything to do with the pixel sizes.
