Will 35/1.8 make the D7000 more "grab and go"?

I really love my Sigma 17-50 2.8/OS and will never give it up as long as I use Nikon crop bodies. That said, there are times when I wish my D7000 was a tad bit lighter/more compact such that I could toss it in my backpack and pull it out for quick snapshots when I'm out and about. I've contemplated a Fuji X100 for this purpose, but even used that's a lot of $ vs. the ~$150 or so I can pick up the 35 prime for. For those that use the 35mm on a regular basis, do you think it would trim down the weight and size in a noticible manner?
