SX40--Where's the Long Distance Shots?
May 1, 2012

There seems to be hundreds of SX40 photos of bugs and birds or other still life taken at high zoom, but the subject is usually only a few yards away. Nice sharp images of feathers and eyeballs, but I'd like to see some deer at 100 yards or a herd of elk at 1/4 mile!

When shooting at long distances will these small compact superzoom lenses produce images that are crisp and detailed like zoo shots or do they lack contrast, appear full of haze and otherwise produce an image that is pretty uninteresting?
