Dynamic Range Real World

Year we heard it all over and over again here - the Sony sensors can recover bad exposure better than Canon - or as others say high dynamic scenes can be recovered via pp in case the Camera use a Sony sensor much better than the Canon ones.

Beside my Canon DSLR (currently a 5DIII) do I own a Leica X1 (Sony sensor) - and yes, RAW's from the X1 in case I have underexposed parts can be recovered very good in LR.

But I noticed that in case I have overexposed parts (blown out sky) I can not recover it in most cases - while I were able to do so with my Canon DSLR's very good.

Today did some shots and a few had some blown out sky's - guess what can be recovered?

(Shoots out of the Cam - converted via LR4.1 default settings)

(Some picture as above with some LR4.1 adjustments)
