The US has the third highest corporate tax rate in the world. The problem is not that we use legitimate tax loopholes and take all legitimate deductions. The problem is that our government spends outlandishly.

BTW, corporations don't pay taxes. They pass taxes along to us consumers in the form of higher prices. The higher the corporate tax the more expensive things are and since we are are already at the high end of the tax structure, corporations that can move, will move to less costly places. Hence we are losing jobs and even more revenue. I'd suggest we need a lowering of our corporate tax to incent business to develop and expand here in the US rather than in other parts of the world.

The notion that corporations don't pay taxes is totally false. Think about this: If Apple really didn't pay taxes, they wouldn't go through all the elaborate machinations to make their tax rate as low as possible. If they were paying 30% of their profit in taxes, there's no way they would add all of that onto the price. The consumer would bear some of the extra cost but Apple would inevitably make less profit. Likewise, if Apple did not have to pay any taxes, that extra money wouldn't all come off their prices; I guarantee you it would increase their profits.

Perhaps the U.S. should lower corporate tax rates so that companies like Apple wouldn't route so much of their income overseas and they would pay the taxes to the U.S. instead of Ireland or Luxembourg.
