Sony 70-400mm

Hi all,
My trip to Yellowstone last summer learned me that I need a longer lens. (Actually I have a Sigma 100-300/f4 with a 1.4 extender) Will the Sony 70-400mm with a 1.4 extender be an improvement and does it have focus confirmation when set on manual
(Sony 70-400 with extender hass no AF I suppose)
