The D800 eco-system effect?
I have been a long term pentax user, been planning to switch to Nikon since quite a bit of time. I Pre-Ordered the Nikon D800 late feb from Amazon, so i am waiting in despair like most of you, if not all. While waiting for this elusive D800 i was preparing for the ecosystem surrounding D800. I began purchasing things so that i am ready when i have the D800 is in my hands. This weekend i looked back at the last 2 months and i realized i bought quite a bit of things and no camera in hand and i have no clue even if i will have it this summer.
Transcend 400x CF cards 32GB $156.00 (3 X 52)
Sandisk Extreme SD cards 45Mbps $125.00 (32gb- $40 + 64GB $85)
Ram upgrade to 16gb $125.00
PC USB3.0 ports upgrade + msata upgrade $150.00
1.5TB backup drive USB 3.0 $140.00
USB 3.0 Card reader $20.00
Manfrotto Tripod Carbon fiber $300.00 (I had cheapo tripods before, I think I needed to up my game for D800)
tripod head $150.00
LightRoom 4 upgrade $75.00
Nikon 85mm f/1.8G $500.00
Thats an expensive eco-system upgrade in prep for D800, anyone else going through this effect?
I bought some more nikon lenses too but those i will count as an expense for switching systems.
There you go "eco system" buzz word, you a corporate man?
Anyways, I'd go with a Gitzo fiber for sure and definitely with a better ball head (arca swiss or RRS) especially if you plan on getting 70-200 2.8 or bigger.
