Thanks for all replies. This is really helpful information and I will try out the AA's in the grip before spending on the D4-battery + new charger.
If anyone can give a rough comparison how AA's perform against the EN-EL18 battery, this would really be interesting to see if it is worth the investment in the en-el18 battery and MH-24 charger.
