You are Much Better Than I Am

I've used the same 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II and a 2x III the last time I took the family to my local nature center open house. I spoke with the in-house bird expert, who also is a photographer, and I asked how much of a focal length do I need to capture the birds he was showing me in the spotting scope. He showed me some shots he got earlier on his Nikon + Tamron 70-300mm, and they weren't bad. I pulled out my camera and did some test shots. Just when I was showing him how small the birds were on my LCD, he pointed out a hawk flying by. I was able to shoot a few frames before it flew away. After I get home, I saw the focal length was 140mm in the EXIF, LOL. Regardless, the image looks reasonable at marginal shutter speed, so that is definitely a venerable equipment in capable hands. For me, I'll try it again another day, but I am bringing my primes
