TZ-5 With Stuck Lens Cover
That was a common problem with the TZ5. The only way to cope that I've seen is to glue the cover leafs open. You don't hear about this any more because newer cameras are in broader use. So far, my TZ5 cover has been OK.
If it's not entirely open, put a drop of glue [not Crazy Glue - cyanoacrylate - as I hear that the fumes from that can hurt the lens coating], then force the blades fully open until the glue sets [Epoxy would be best - apply a tiny drop with a toothpick]
