You owe the development of the scratch resistant hard glass in your iphone and ipads to Chrysler Corp and the development of specialty 1968 Dodge and Plymouth race cars. This glass was developed in the Corning Labs in 1960 but they could find no commercial use for it. In 1964 Chrysler wanted to cut the weight on a special run of Chargers and Barracudas and came to Corning who quickly designed a short run manufacturing line for the lightweight hardened glass. . They called it "gorilla glass". The line was then moth balled until Jobs asked for help from Corning. Within a month Corning was supplying the glass..now you can knock your iPhone to the floor, it may not work after that but the glass is intact.
