I certainly agree with Matt, it is an example of what not to do in PP and has nothing to do with the fine lens IMO.

IMO the 17-55/2.8 is a superb lens. I have one and in my opinion it has served me well for the 6 years I have owned it. I use it a lot whenever I shoot with my DX bodies.
