Then you may as well say that a 7D is too bulky for day to day use. After all, one of those mirrorless bodies, or even a superzoom P&S would be much more convenient.

I bought a 17-55 lens about 3 years ago, and it is the lens that spends the most time on my 7D. Yes, it is bulkier than the slower lenses (such as a 15-85), but makes up for that in optical quality and having f2.8 throughout the zoom range.
