I can here the standby noise when I put my ear on the lens - but not when I look through the viewfinder. Mind you I don't hear that well any more as 40 years ago!
Autofocus is absolutely silent.
Maybe this changes when I have used the lens a bit more, at present I have only done perhaps a thousand shots.
