"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough" - Einstein

What was a simple explanation to Einstein would often be completely incomprehensible to most other people. If you want to understand advanced physics, you need to study it for many years and be very smart. I don't understand it.

I know that there are plenty of topics where this wouldn't be practical advice, but I don't think it really applies to the discussion of cameras. You don't need to use big words and technical definitions to get a point across or explain a concept.

The technology behind cameras is extremely sophisticated. You persist in believing that there is some conspiracy to make you feel bad. There isn't. Some things are just hard. Explaining them may be possible, but the explanation may be the length of a book.

If people want to be told a simple story to give them the comforting idea that they understand what is being discussed, then that may be possible some of the time. However, the same words can't be used to both pacify laypeople and carry on a serious discussion on a disputed matter. There are some discussions that people not educated in an area just cannot participate in.

I know this is hard to accept. It is rather like accepting that you'll never have the opportunity to have sex with Charlize Theron (or whoever your fantasy partner is). Some truths are painful to accept, but they are truths nevertheless.

How else do you think engineers communicate with rest of the team in large organisations?

Like an adult talks to an infant. The infant's comprehension remains very limited.
