Man, my 7D was so full of fail, you can't even imagine. No Canon lens would ever AF properly with it. The only lens that was good on it was the Tamron 17-50/2.8 VC. But I had 24/1.4L, 50/1.2L, 85/1.8, 135/2L and 70-200/4L on it and it was a disaster. And it wasn't manageable thru AF-Microadjustment. I finally sold it to someone who does video only. I only saw one good 7D but it was bought by my friend in Japan. All the others i tested here in Poland were not good in the AF-dept.

As for film lenses - what i meant is that some old designs do not have proper coating for digital. Sure, you can have a lot of old Nikkors, way older than anything Canon has, but Nikon released a lot of great lenses recently, and Canon is still standing still with updates. Plus - get this - 28/2.8 USM IS by Canon costs more than 28/1.8G with Nano Coating? Canon has to be kidding themselves.
