Manual control in Autofocus movie mode vs. Manual Control in Manual Focus movie mode
Apr 25, 2012

The A57 only allows full manual control during manual focus operations, and the specs says as much on Amazon. "The a57 frees you to realize your creative moviemaking vision. P/A/S/M modes (Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual) let you flexibly adjust aperture and shutter speed to modify the depth of field and achieve effects like defocused backgrounds when shooting movies in the manual focusing mode .

However, the A65 specs do not provide this limitation. "HD movies with full manual control. Now you don't need to surrender control when you shoot HD movies. Enjoy the full expressive potential of Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority or Manual (P/A/S/M) control in HD movie mode." ----- The A77 reads similarly.

Do higher end A65 and A77 allow full manual control of aperture and shutter during Autofocus movie mode?

I just realized that the A65 does override aperture to 3.5 in AF mode, so I suppose that the "full manual" control like the A57 is limited to manual focus mode and that the marketing literature is simply vague, correct?"
