I did the same test with my 85mm/1.4G with the same findings as you. Later, I also tested with my 14-24 and 24-70. When close to the subject, no or only small deviations, but when I stepped to say > 1.5m from the subjects, the AF problems on the left focus point became very apparent.

I would be interested to know if you also checked focus accuracy at larger distances, and with other lenses? I'm curious to see if people come to different conclusions because their test conditions differ. It at least had impact for my own tests.

Just did a whole lot today at larger distances with the 85mm f1.4G, 14-24 f2.8 and the 24-70 f2.8. I didn't notice any focus issues there either.
