As you can read in my original post I'm already using back focusing.
One technique I'm experimenting with to test the new AF is using Servo mode for focusing.
In a predictable scene I can dial in an off center AF-point and just push the AF-ON button to let the AF continuously focus on someone's eye for instance.
This successfully counters any hand held movement or natural head movement of the subject and increases the keeper rate (shooting 70-200 IS II @2.8).
But continuously focusing means continuous metering at the AF-point.
The fact that there is a bias in matrix metering seems utterly moronic to me. Especially when you don't have the option to turn it off.
