"Pure" street photography was often described with the assumption the image was rendered in B&W. This in itself is a form of post-production and removing (or failing to capture) the colour in an image is surely a form of post-production.
I don't see why street photography types turn their noses up at post-production. When shooting in jpeg, you are at the mercy of your camera's (and therefore its designers') interpretation of how the image should be rendered.
In light of the above, I don't see any problems with post production.
Cropping, is perhaps another issue. HCB resisted cropping as his PP discipline iirc.
