I decided to switch to Nikon with a pre-order of the D800E and a bunch of FX lenses (after selling all the Canon gear). Figuring it might be a while before the D800E came in, I thought I'd get the D7000 to tide me over. On the one hand the images from the D7000 are truly fantastic in my opinion, but as a landscape shooter I was getting too frustrated with the wide angle I was losing with the FX lenses on a DX body, especially from the 14-24. So frustrated that when Amazon got the D700 in stock a couple of weeks ago I snapped one up. I haven't regretted it--the D700 is still a terrific camera. So if wide is your thing and you're buying FX lenses, I think the D700 is the way to go.
