Any Real Speed Difference Between These Drives
Apr 21, 2012

Over in another thread I am actively gaining advice on a PC build for photo editing.

rather than clutter up that thread I would like to ask the following.

Will I see any meaningful difference in speed/response time/photo loading-saving time between the use of the following drives?

System 1

OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive.

Read Speed: 550MB/Sec, Write Speed: 500MB/Sec, Flash: MLC, Controller: SandForce SF-2281, Buffer: 0MB

used as the OS and Application drive, in conjunction with two,

Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 64MB Cache Hard Disk Drive SATA 6 Gb/s 126MB/s

Set up in RAID 1.

Against System 2 with,

Western Digital Velociraptor 600GB 32MB Cache Hard Disk Drive Serial 6Gb/s

used as the OS and Application drive, in conjunction with two,

Western Digital Caviar Green Power 2TB 64MB Cache Hard Disk Drive 6Gb/s - OEM 2TB Capacity, SATA 6Gb/s Interface, IntelliPower Spin Speed, 64MB Cache, 2 Year Warranty.

Set up in RAID 1.

I suppose I could put the WD 600GB Velociraptor with the two WD Caviar Black 2TB drives if that would be better.

All guidance appreciated.

Once again my thanks to all who have helped me with this planning so far.
