Not really... You are simplifying quite severely. If it would be this simple everyone would use cameras with small sensors.

shallow DOF, is very very important, lacking which, puts v1 into the P&S category.

The example given using photoshop for eg is very limited :

1. there is no progressive shallow DOF when objects can be discerned progressively

2. if each photo rquires even just 3 minutes to do a fake bokeh, 20 pictures = 1 hour wasted. not exactly the kind of time anyone wants to spend doing what could be accomplished easily by 4/3 systems.

3. despite all the good stuffs i read on the V1, actual experience is that its really a glorified P&S, maybe excel in sports / action which i don't do.

yes if nikon release a 18mm 1.4 and actually works, this thread would be pointless.
