Lens Error with Ft1 and Nikon 55-200 DX VR

I've had the same infuriating error message with a brand new Nikon 1 series 10-100mm zoom on my V1camera body. After speaking with the local Nikon technical help desk, it appears that there is no option other than to exchange the lens. I'm currently awaiting a replacement from the supplier.

I hope that this sort of electronic rejection of individual lenses by camera bodies is not going to become a feature of the new Nikon 1 series. It would be far more helpful if the error messages gave more of an a indication as to the exact nature of the problem - indeed perhaps this could be introduced into firmware updates in the future!
