Pentax: Follower or leader ?

Musing and keen to see what people are thinking or more importantly know?
With the impending release of the 41mp Nokia 808 pure view smart phone, with stunning IQ; and technology like Samsung with interactive cameras now linking up to tablets, phones and televisions, does this leave the traditional camera makers like Pentax with a dilemma of being able to keep up with such technology ??
For example, why would i bother with a Pentax Q or any other compact when you can get such amazing IQ in a smart phone ?
Are Pentax in need of a technology partner ?
I know there will be a market for DSLR's for a few years to come, but where is all this heading too ? Will they die out or change and adapt to be more than just a image taking device ?
Will the move to niche cameras like WG-series, K-01 and Q be enough to keep them afloat ?
Thinking past us forum-ites who love traditional DSLR's, Pentax must look at new technologies, age groups, generations etc
Who is going to be the succesful brands of the future and why ? Is Pentax going to be one of them, when Pentaxians with old K1000's in their cupboard start die-ing off....................
Right now Canon and Nikon are of course the big two, but unless embracing of technology improves, will that change ?
Should the Nokia 808 pure view be reviewed on this site ? and could Nokia become a serious camera builder ?
Have we got to a stage where IQ is only making smaller incremental gains now and making smaller sensors far more viable for the majority of people and even now, some professionals ?
Get out with your crystal balls folks.........
