Nikon 24-120mm f4 G AF-S ED VR OR Nikon 24-70 f2.8

Every lense is a compromise of sorts

I've had the 28-70 2.8 and 24-120F4 and rarely shot the 28-70 2.8. I found the versatility of the 24-120 both VR and range and IQ good enough.

I recently acquired the 24-70, lets just say the 24-70 is on my D3s unless I really need something out of that range and the 24-120F4 gets much less usage.

The 28-70 is good lense, but I will debate what another poster said that the 28-70 gives you 99%. For one it gives nothing of 24-28, believe it or not those 4mm is a lot on the wide side. I find for the overlapping range the 24-70 superior in contrast and pop.

No shooting F8 I'd say the 24-120 gives the 24-70 a good run, but even at F4 the 24-70 is superior on my limited peeping.

Get both, but if you can choose only one, I'm now a believer and fan of the 24-70!
