If 400 isn't long enough...

try some post processing. The spoonbill was near a small island in the Everglades, too far from the road for my 100-400. In Photoshop I extended the ratio to 1.5 by adding trees to the right. Putting the spoonbill in the left third I think presents a nice composition and the color contrast adds to it. Sure beats shelling out big bucks for a supertele.
