Of Course I Do "Agree To Disagree" With You, Trav
In reply to Traveller, Apr 18, 2012

Yes, Traveller:

Of course I do—as the British
say— agree to disagree in
a friendly manner, Traveller.

We two have a wonderful his-
tory of disagreements that
started (if I remember well)
when many, many years ago
you got mad at me because
I had suggested you'd write
not so extremely looong titles
for your pictures.

And we are still good friends!
(There is no need to become
rude over a disagreement.

That said, I'd like to ask you a
question: You have embraced
progress: You bought not too
long ago a new camera. You
do shoot now pictures of 18M
pixels, showing much more de-
tail than the machine that you
had used before could produce.

But you do not want to show
that wonderful detail in the
challenge: you do still com-
press those pictures to a size
that was adequate when your
former cam produced 8M pix-
els or so.

Now: if you don't want to show
your images in their "full bloom",
that's fine with me. But why do
you not allow me to show mine
(I use the same camera-model)
as I see fit ?

Why don't you—at least—talk to
Slug and Emily (whom you seem
to know personally) and ask them
about their opinion on the sub-
ject? And if a higher size-limit
might really have a negative im-
pact on their server-space?

In most friendly disagreement with
and full consideration for you,
yours truly: db.

PD. This photograph of
mine won the other day
a dpr-challenge. I love
to show my "work" in
this size and detail.
Why should I not be
able to do that here?

I respect you enough, and really like your work, sufficiently to deal with you straight up and not play with you.

We disagree.
Honorable people can honorably disagree.
