If local news paper use your photo, did you get paid?

That's not necessarily true, especially in my case. The staff photographer for the newspaper showed up just after I got there. They used my photo(s) because of the unique angle that I took them from.

After that, the paper had me going to a couple of different events (car lot grand-opening, local festival) but it just wasn't my thing, in fact, I hated it. I enjoy photography as a hobby, not as a profession and didn't want to ruin my hobby so I haven't done anything else for the paper since...
