D800 v D700 for image look

D800 v D700 for image look

Had a D700 a few years ago but sold it when I moved to a Leica M system, I'm shooting a few Nikon film cameras (f80/f100) and have a few Nikon prime AF-D lenses so was thinking about getting a D800 however I'm not sure from seeing samples form the D800 on flickr that I'm really liking the "look" it delivers, I know its early days yet but the samples I've seen so far look a little muddy and lack the clarity of the D700.

I can see why say a landscape or wedding photographer would want the 36mp's of the D800.

so I guess my question is to those who upgraded from a D700 to D800 what do you think of the end results, not interested in crop etc just the sheer image "look"
