Canon s90, s95, s100 - Anyone repair 'Lens Error' off warranty?

Hi there-

Has anyone ever paid to have the dreaded 'Lens error' fault of the Canon S90-S100 repaired? From people who have it repaired under warranty, I understand they replace the entire lens housing.

If you send it in to repair when the camera doesnt have a warranty, how much does it cost? Even an approximate amount would be helpful.
