Softboxes..is a top brand worth it ?

Quality pays off everytime... to a point. You can pay scads of moola and not get a return beyond 150 pounds, IMHO. The only thing i can add to the discussion beyond that is this:

1. you probably don't need softboxes... for tabletop product photos have you considered shoot through umbrellas or even bouncing the flashes off Foamcore panels!

2. even good softboxes (one of mine is almost 25 years old, Chimera) will "yellow" after a long time--and I don't smoke! Not a problem unless you use it with newer units the produce a more white light...

Good luck, and think about the Foamcore panels!
