It's a versatile camera but I don't know if it's the best choice for the studio. Depends totally on the kind of work you do but if you're shooting something that's lit very subtly it might be difficult to nail the focus if it's dim.
That said, being studio work rather than, say, event work you can always work around focussing issues with a flashlight for example. The threaded cable release is a nice touch with this camera as I have half a dozen of those releases lying around rather than my single Nikon one which I'm always losing.
