Should I sell off my 50mm 1.4G? -_- I don't see myself going FX.

Hello, I need some help.
I bought a 50mm 1.4G as my first lens for my Nikon D50 because I thought it would be great as a portrait lens... then I read around... apparently it's not as good because of the "crop" sensor on DX cameras making a 50mm actually a 70mm?
Should I sell this off and buy a 35mm 1.8G + random tele.?
I am getting a D90 soon and I don't see myself going further than that. Don't know what to do... I need a tele. for events and something for portraits. I LOVE sharp images.
What should I do guys?
