There are two things to consider:
1. Use flash compensation in the PASM modes

  • Press the Fn button

  • Navigate to the Flash Compensation entry on the right-hand side

  • Press Enter

  • Select flash comp value

2. A number of users have been experiencing occasional flash over-exposure (see my previous posts). It is especially noticeable in Auto modes. Most likely, it is caused by the firmware. I have been waiting for the fix for 6 month now... FW1.04 did somewhat improve the consistency of the flash exposure. But, it appears that there were no fixes for the flash in FW 1.05. I reported the issue to Sony, and I hope they will solve it in the next FW release.

Thank you very much.

Indeed, my problem is exactly as you described, in Auto+ occasionaly the flash power is too strong causing heavily overexposed pictures. What a pity, because I find the A65 to be outstanding camera, in my opinion, much better than Panasonic GH2 which I have had. The best aspect in my eyes is its quick or instance response, which is extremely important when taking pictures of young children.
